I am the Mom that Stopped An
Attempted Brick Attack On My Family
A few weeks ago on the Jewish
holiday of Shavuos, I stopped
an attempted brick attack aimed
at my two young children (ages 7
years and 9 years), and myself at
Kelly Park. This typically family
friendly park is located at the corner
of East 14 Street and Avenue S
and has always been seen as a safe
location. Never in my life, would
I have imagined that something
like this could happen to me. But
it did and I am grateful that I was
able to use my strong background
in public safety, to deescalate the
situation.
This horrible experience highlights
the importance of opening
up a conversation about how
safety across the area is not only
the top concern mentioned by residents
but also vital for the community
to thrive. As the next City
Council member for District 48,
I will be focused on reclaiming
safety for the residents of Southern
Brooklyn. My plan for public
safety is rooted in experience,
evidence based research and insight
gained on the forefront of
the fight against hate, bigotry and
antisemitism. This multipronged
approach to secure our area focuses
on protecting, preventing
and uniting. Our communities’
future begins with the choices we
make today. I choose to focus on
elevating quality of life, across
the board, which includes keeping
community members safe
and sound.
