PADEREWSKI DAYS
IN NEW YORK CITY
As part of the celebration 100th
anniversary of the establishment of
diplomatic relations between Poland
and the USA, on November 16-24,
Paderewski Days Festival (II edition)
will be presented in New York City.
The festival, through various activities
addressed to the New York audience,
presents, promotes and reminds Ignacy
Jan Paderewski and his great merits in
the field of music and Polish-American
diplomatic cooperation for Polish
independence.
The festival is supported by the
Honorary Patronage of Consul General
of the Republic of Poland in New York
Maciej Golubiewski, and co-financed
by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of the Republic of Poland as part of
the competition “Cooperation in the
field of public diplomacy 2019”. The
program of Paderewski Days includes
a series of cultural events: concerts,
recitals, exhibitions, art-shows, lectures
and meetings with artists from Poland.
The originator of the festival is Adam
Wibrowski - a member of international music associations.
During “Paderewski Days 2019” the music of Maestro Paderewski will be heard in various
districts of New York City. On November 16, on the concert „KEYS TO FREEDOM“
in Lincoln Center (Bruno Walter Auditorium, NYPL, 2:30 PM) internationally acclaimed
pianist Radosław Sobczak performs two epic, romantic sonatas by revolutionary Polish
composers: Paderewski and Szymanowski. After that, on November 24, during the concert
„PADEREWSKI & CHOPIN“ at the Polish & Slavic Center, pianist Radosław Sobczak will
perform together with soprano Anna Koźlakiewicz. Both concerts will be hosted by Adam
Wibrowski - artistic director of festival.
An important event will be exhibitions dedicated to Maestro Paderewski. On November 22
(Friday, 5:00 PM) at the Polish & Slavic Center, Andrzej Renes will present the SCULPTURE
EXHIBITION „Between music and diplomacy“ inspired by the music and life of Paderewski
and Chopin. Artist from Poland will perform also audiovisual show. The second presentation
will be the HISTORICAL EXHIBITION “PADEREWSKI” with archival photographs
from the Polish Museum in America. The premiere show of this exhibition and the meeting
with its authors is scheduled for November 23. The program of festival includes also lectures
„Ignacy Paderewski - pianist and diplomat“, meetings & workshops with artists from Poland
and presentation of the guide “In the footsteps of Paderewski in New York” (November 20,
12:30, KRAKUS CLUB, PSC).
The Paderewski Days Festival is co-organized and supported by: RenesArt Foundation,
Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York, New York Public Library for the
Performing Arts, Polish & Slavic Center, Polish Museum of America. More information on the

The victim told police he
was confronted by a guy who
he had a fight with about a
year prior, along with 15 of his
friends, at Hoyt Street at 3:15
pm, before the posse punched
and kicked him and grabbed
his phone, headphones, and
sweatpants.

Two villains jumped a guy
on Gold Street on Nov. 11.
The victim told police that
the two good-for-nothings approached
near Nassau Street
at 5 pm and grabbed his phone
and AirPods, at 5 pm.
Subway swipe!
Cops arrested a man they
suspect of punching a subway
conductor at Cadman Plaza
W. on Nov. 11.
The victim told police
that the man stuck his foot
in the train’s closing door
near Henry Street at 5 pm,
but when the conductor told
the defendant to stop, the suspect
allegedly punched him
three times in the face.
Cops arrested the man at
the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Station
some 20 minutes later and
slapped him with felony assault
charges, the authorities
said. The victim went to Cobble
Hill hospital for treatment,
according to police.
Apple thief
A looter snatched a phone
from an Atlantic Avenue store
on Nov. 15.
Witnesses told police that
the man went into the store
near Fourth Avenue at 7 pm
and yanked an iPhone 11 from
a display table, before bolting
toward Flatbush Avenue.

Police arrested a man suspected
of stabbing anther man
in the eye with a pencil at
Prince Street on Nov. 12.
The victim told police that
his alleged attacker stabbed

Paramedics rushed the victim
to Brooklyn Hospital, and
police cuffed the 25-year-old
suspect and slapped him with
felony assault charges, according
to the authorities.

The victim told police that

attacked a guy after a botched
robbery on Flushing Avenue
on Nov. 14.
The victim told police that
the the two nogoodniks held
him up at Washington Avenue
near Park Avenue at 9:20
am, demanding his wallet and
any money. When the victim
told the malefactors that he
didn’t have any money and
kept walking towards Flushing
Avenue, the robbers began
punching him several times
before leaving the scene.

allegedly robbing another

Street on Nov. 15.
The 17-year-old victim
told police that he was coming
out of Fort Greene Park
near Saint Edwards Street at
around 6:20 pm when he noticed
two guys were tailing
him, before one of them allegedly
claimed to have a knife
— before they grabbed his
phone and ran off.
Police picked up one of the
two suspects, a 17-year-old
Bronx resident, at the park

The victim told police that

at around 10:50 pm.

Some weasel stripped the

Sixth Street on Oct. 18.
The victim told police that

Warehouse in the mall near

before a security officer for
the store stopped the thief and
recovered them.

A thief stole two bikes from
a storage room on Baltic Street
on Nov. 11.
The victim told police that
the bandit snuck into the storage
room between Smith and
Hoyt streets at about 8:15 am
and made off with the two
bikes and the gear attached to
them, worth $1,520 total.

The owner of the business
told police someone hung up

in Kensington on Tuesday,
after a high-speed
crash that left one driver
injured.
According to witnesses,
both drivers were heading
southbound on Mc-
Donald Avenue near Caton
Avenue at around 8
am, when the driver of a
white Toyota lost control,
sideswiped another car,
crashed into another car
and ended up sidewise.
Locals surrounded the
scene as the Fire Department
inspected the damage

he driver of the SUV
was treated for non-lifethreatening
injuries, while
the driver of the blue car
was checked by medics
at the scene.
The two-block stretch
of McDonald Avenue between
Caton and Church
avenues has seen 11
crashes since 2011, resulting
in 15 injuries according
