BY REYNA IWAMOTO
Gearing up for its 21st season this
August, the Brooklyn Bridge Park
Conservancy has announced the return
of Movies With A View.
Every Thursday from Aug. 5-26,
moviegoers can sit at Harbor View
Lawn at Brooklyn Bridge Park and
enjoy a movie at sundown.
This year’s theme, following a diffi
cult year due to the coronavirus
pandemic, is “grit,” featuring movies
that tell the stories of persistence
and determination.
“We can’t wait to celebrate together
with an amazing lineup, ‘grit,’
featuring fun and heartwarming stories
of perseverance and resilience —
something we can all relate to after
2020,” said Nancy Webster, executive
director of the Brooklyn Bridge Park
Conservancy.
The pre-movie line-up includes a
DJ curated by Brooklyn Radio and a
short fi lm from local fi lmmakers and
curated by BAMcinematek.
Movies With A View will also feature
some of NYC’s favorite food and
drink vendors from Smorgasburg
along the Pier 1 Promenade. Beer and
wine concessions will be available
for purchase for adults 21 and over.
“Brooklyn Bridge Park has been
such an important refuge for so
many the past year, and we are now
very excited to welcome back one
of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s
most loved events,” said
Brooklyn Bridge Park President Eric
Landau.
Since its launch, Movies With A
View has attracted more than 500,000
moviegoers to Dumbo and has become
one of New York City’s favorite
fi lm series.
“Movies With A View is the Conservancy’s
signature summer event
and we look forward to welcoming
back visitors for the offi cial return
this August,” Webster said.
Doors will open and live music
will start at 6 pm, while the fi lms
will start at sundown (approximately
8:30 pm each night). Moviegoers are
advised to bring a blanket, and those
traveling by bike can take advantage
of complimentary bike valet.
