of America. The rink is open daily, including
holidays, through the season, weather and
events permitting. The prices for rental skates
range between $18 and $33 depending on the
day you go (or you can bring your own skates)
There are free skating shows, special events
and other ice activities for everyone to enjoy
daily.

Community Center fosters a welcoming

in 1984 empowering LGBTQ people building
a strong community. Today, the center
welcomes more than 300,000 visitors every

and health-based programming to support the
vibrancy of the LGBTQ community in New
York City. The center celebrates diversity and
advocates for justice and opportunity. Guests
are also welcomed to rent a space at the center

Production and Reservations team, you’ll

by Daniel Schulmann. TSMA is the largest
martial arts school in the U.S. and has

goals and reach their dreams. TSMA offers
beginner classes for adults and kids, where no
experience is required. Its Karate Cubs preschool
program teaches children beginning
at the age of 3, while its children’s martial
arts program teaches children at 5-yearsold.
The classes range from as little as $13
to $27.50 depending on the program you
choose. Competition is not required. However,
for students interested, TSMA does offer the
opportunity to compete in different types of

around? The 96th Street Clay Tennis Courts
are the place to be! The courts are open daily
from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m., giving you plenty
of time to spar against your tennis rival or
practice your doubles game. Don’t forget to
pick up a tennis permit and reserve your court
before you play, both of which can be handled
online at the New York City Parks Department
website. Grab your soft-sole tennis shoes, your
racket and a couple of balls, and then head
down to the courts to work on your serve.

In 1984, a local parent founded the Greenwich
Village Little League to give children the
opportunity to play an organized team sport.
According to the organization, nearly 900
girls and boys played baseball and softball
on 65 different teams last spring. The league
plays and trains all year round but the main
season takes place from April to June. The
all-volunteer organization consists of a
board of directors, team coordinators, team
managers, coaches safety officers and umpires.
Spring registration for the Greenwich Village
Little League begins on Sunday, Dec. 1. Kids
are placed on teams in the t-ball, juniors
and minors divisions based on requests to
play with former teammates and friends or
kids from the same school. Kids in the more
competitive majors, juniors and seniors
baseball divisions, have the chance to try out
and are drafted based on ability.
