Lamar Peters has taken Queens residents

The Vander Ende-Onderdonk house in
Ridgewood is the oldest Dutch colonial
stone house in New York City. The Queens
gem presents two acres of beautiful gardens
and historic architecture. After a serious
fire in 1975, local residents rallied to save
the structure from demolition, forming the
Greater Ridgewood Historical Society. The
house was placed on the National Register
of Historic Places in 1978 and is still
maintained by the GRHS. Today, the house
serves as both a museum for a permanent
exhibit on the archaeology of the Onderdonk
site and a place where visitors can walk
around, explore garden exhibitions, sit on
the grass and enjoy the rays of sunshine.

Rockaway Theatre Company’s mission is clear:
“Bringing Broadway to Rockaway.” Founded in
1997, the theatre has built a reputation for highquality
theatre and have developed a first-rate
educational program providing a diversified
selection of workshops in various areas of theatre
and performing arts taught by licensed teaching
professionals. The theatre has established a
Young People’s Theatre Workshop which runs
for five months of the year and culminates with a
Broadway Quality musical production performed
on the main stage entirely by workshop students
between the ages of 8 and 18. It also offers a wide
variety of adult seminars centering around the
arts, performance and various technical aspects
of theater. These workshops include: dance,
vocal, stage management, costume design, yoga,
set construction, sound design, watercolor,
photography and audition technique.
