 Police discovered a dead
 body submerged in chemicals
 inside a burning van in
 Canarsie Monday night.
 The cops were called to
 investigate the smoldering,
white van in the parking lot
of an 80th Street gas station
 between Foster Avenue and
 Preston Court at around 6
 pm, when, after extinguishing
 the smoke, investigators
 found the unconscious body
of a man inside, according to
 police.
 He was later pronounced
dead at the scene, cops said.
 Eyewitnesses at the scene
 said the man was submerged
in chemicals at the time of
 his discovery.
 The body has been turned
over to the city’s medical examiner
 to determine cause of
 death, authorities say.

 Police arrested a 45-yearold
 Staten Island man accused
 of repeatedly raping a
 11-year-old Brownsville girl.
 The suspect was cuffed
Sunday — a day after the most
 recent assault on Saturday at
 victim’s Brownsville home
 — on three counts of felony
 rape, three counts of sexual
 abuse, and three counts of
harming the safety of a child,
 according to police.
 Prosecutors allege that
 the Staten Island man raped
the girl on two prior occasions
 since Dec. 28, according
 to the criminal complaint.

 Police became aware of
 the crimes after the victim’s
 mother, who knew the defendant,
   caught him naked in
 the child’s bedroom, according
 to prosecutors.
 Emergency personnel
 rushed the victim, who
 was in stable condition,
 to Brookdale Hospital in
 Brownsville.
 Kings County Judge Adam
 Perlmutter set the defendant’s
 bail as $250,000 which
has not been posted and issued
 a temporary protection
 order against the accused.
 His next court appearance
 is slated for Feb. 21.
