Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,
we’ve continued to combine BORO with our sister
publication, LIC Courier, so that we can highlight
local businesses, artists, changemakers and more.
This holiday season, it’s more important than
ever to support western Queens businesses as you
shop for gifts. Whether you’re sporting your mask
to shop in person on Small Business Saturday or
ordering presents online, there are plenty of ways to
patronize small businesses and local makers. Find
out how five local businesses have pivoted due to
COVID-19 (page 10). A restaurant advocacy group
put together a guide to local cultural institutions,
restaurants and shops to encourage wider support
for businesses in Astoria (page 21). Additionally, we
rounded up 10 gift ideas by western Queens makers
(page 28).
