Put on your boots, scarf and a chunky sweater and enjoy the crisp fall air on the Long Island City waterfront, where visitors to the outdoor market can eat, drink and shop with a great view of the Manhattan skyline. Kicking off the month is The Big Cheese Festival on Oct. 1 and 2. Next is the pumpkin fall fest on Oct. 8 and 9. Beer aficionados should get excited for the first Queens Beer Festival, which will take place on Oct. 15 and 16. Tickets are on sale at www.QueensBeerFest.com. The spookiest days at the Flea are Oct. 22 and 23, the Halloween Fright weekend. And you have one last chance to visit the Flea on Oct. 29 and 30, the final weekend of the 2016 outdoor season. The market is open on Saturdays from Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is located at 5-25 46th Ave., Long Island City.
