Peter Yip: I met Johnny through a good friend, Qi Wang, who knows about what I do in the art field. BORO: How many artists are featured in the current exhibition? PY: Eleven BORO: Will you be the curator for all of the art for the Bao Shoppe? PY: With the Bao Shoppe just opening, we have some adjusting to do before any commitment is made. BORO: If so, how often will it rotate? PY: If so, I’d like to rotate every month, to give the artists a proper amount of exposure. BORO: Who are the artists included in this first show, and how did you meet? PY: I met these brilliant artists/entrepreneurs through gallery shows, live painting events, networking through friends, and collaborating on events.  Alexander Reynoso, Christopher Xydas, Erien Astronaut Ed Medina, Jose De Olio, Joshua Hernandez, Skize1, Cozmik, Jonathan Rodriguez, Paulie Nassar, Peter W. Yip, Ralph Serrano BORO: Would you be open to serving as the curator for a show featuring local, Queens-based artists? PY: Yes, I would be open to being the curator or co-curator for a show to feature local, Queens-based artists to connect with their community. BORO: If local, Queens-based artists, would like to have some of their work considered, what should they do? PY: All questions and requests should be directed to me at www.peterwyip.com BORO: How would you describe live painting to someone with no frame of reference? PY: Live painting is creating your art on the spot. BORO: Are all of the pieces in the current show a product of live painting? PY: Half of the pieces at the Bao Shoppe were live painted.  BORO: Would you consider hosting live painting events anywhere in Astoria if a venue became available? PY: Anything is possible.
