Isabel Jimenez-Colon
and Pablo Colon
Sunnyside couple Isabel Jimenez-
Colon and Pablo Colon found each
other on match.com in 2016. At the
time, Isabel had lived in Sunnyside for
15 years and Pablo lived on Roosevelt
Island, so LIC provided a great meeting
point.
“Early on in our relationship, we
spent a lot of time together in Long
Island City walking the waterfront at

Gantry Plaza State Park and dining at
local restaurants. It was a great location
for us to get to know each other. Although
we enjoyed the area, they did
not know how truly special LIC would
become for us,” Isabel said.
Just a few months after meeting, Pablo
relocated to Los Angeles for work,
and the couple dated long distance.
After the couple realized they wanted
to be together long-term, Pablo
moved to Sunnyside to be with Isabel
in 2017. Pablo proposed to Isabel by
Pier 15 in April 2018.
That September, the Sunnyside
couple got married at the Vista Penthouse
Ballroom in LIC, which Isabel
described as “the perfect place for
us.” The venue provided a skyline view
and was a quick ride away from Gantry
Plaza State Park, where the couple took
their wedding pictures.

Catherine McSorley
and Peter Dellaportas
Astoria business owners Catherine
McSorley and Peter Dellaportas fell in
love thanks to their mothers.
In 2019, McSorley helped Dellaportas’
mom plan his sister’s bridal shower,
which was to be held at McSorley’s
business, Katch Astoria. When COVID
delayed the event, McSorley’s mom
took over coordinating and became
friends with Dellaportas’ mother.
McSorley’s mother spoke often of Dellaportas,
who was born and raised in Astoria
and owns the Bel-Aire Diner with his
family. In August 2021, McSorley decided
to invite Dellaportas to Katch as a fellow
Queens business owner.
“Unbeknownst to us, our mothers
were planning how they could arrange
our meeting,” McSorley said.
“I remember the motions of walking
into Katch and meeting Catherine, but
the important thing I remember is how
she made me feel: happy,” Dellaportas
said.
They had their first date at Sweet Afton.
“Days after meeting each other, I
went to Peter’s brother’s wedding and
shortly after that, Peter asked me to be
his girlfriend,” McSorley said.
McSorley currently lives in White
Plains to be close to Fairfield University,
where she is getting her master's. She
plans to move to Astoria this May.
