Gallows 32 | BOROMAG.COM | FEBRUARY 2014 Interview + Photos Lizabeth Nieves THE ARTS Gree n Adam Steiner:  I started playing music in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. I got a guitar from my parents when I was 10 years old. It wasn’t until in my mid-twenties when I wanted to play more of my own music.  I thought it would satisfy me more. Cara Cooley: I started playing music while doing musical theater growing up. When Adam started writing music, I jumped on the bandwagon—and it was so much fun. Sean Ryan Donnelly: I started playing classical violin when I was 11 years old, and started playing guitar when I was 15. I grew up in a very musical household. My father is a professional bluegrass musician. I play guitar and banjo. Blake Smith: I started playing harmonica in high school. When I got to college, I met a country singer named Wakey Smith. I became best friends with his son, and joined that band, and have been doing it ever since. AS: Green Gallows got started initially a year ago this time. We had a couple ideas. We had them on paper. Life got in the way, and jobs got in the way, and finally in August of 2013 we decided to put all our time, energy, and heart into it. It just came from a lot of music I had written over the years, and from wanting to create something The Band
