STANDING Brooklyn’s Biggest Booster
TJ Club celebrates at annual holiday party
BY KEVIN DUGGAN
Talk about party politics!
Three cheers for the Thomas
Jefferson Democratic Club, which
hosted local politicos and prominent
legal eagles at their annual
holiday party on Dec. 15!
The inf luential Canarsie political
club — led by Kings County Democratic
Party Boss Frank Seddio —
held the event at the more spacious
digs of Berge Beach’s Hudson River
Yacht Club for a fete replete with
food, dancing, and karaoke, according
to one of the organizers behind
the event.
The night was an all-around
success, according to Democratic
District Leader Sue Ann Partnow,
who said the night was made better
by Kings County’s political
honchos who made time in their
busy schedules to celebrate the
holidays.
“We look forward to it every
year,” Partnow said. “We feel good
and they feel good.”
This year’s event featured attendance
from several high-profile
members on the borough’s political
scene — including Seddio, Councilman
Rafael Espinal (D—Bedford-
Stuyvesant), and Brooklyn District
Attorney Eric Gonzalez.
Standing O salutes the Thomas
Jefferson Democratic Club for a
successful event!

Fillmore Real Estate’s Sheepshead
Bay offi ce honored Maimonides Medical
Center at its Dec. 16 holiday bash
that, according to one organizer, was
a night to remember.
“It was a good night,” said Ann
McBride, a realtor at the Fillmore. “It
was a nice get-together.”
During the big event, around
75 staffers at Fillmore and Maimonides
schmoozed over food, drinks,
and music at the Avenue U offi ce
before realtors presented the chairman
of surgery at the medical center,
Dr. Patrick Borgen, with a check
for $41,000 for breast cancer research.
According to McBride, the money
was raised at Fillmore’s annual community
based event, Pat’s Pink Party,
which raises funds for breast cancer
research and outreach programs.
This past Oct., Fillmore sponsored
the 12th pink party in Mill Basin,
where locals and healthcare workers
gathered to fundraise for the noble
cause.

Cheers to fi ve years!
Healthcare provider
MetroPlus celebrated the fi veyear

Over 31,000 consumers have
enrolled in health insurance at
the community offi ce, which was
launched in an effort to better

bring needed services by partnering
with all these new entities we
didn’t have a relationship with
prior to,” said Roger Milliner.
The Brooklyn Community Offi
ce offers a myriad of community

residents and consumers in the
outlying community.
The anniversary bash hosted
hundreds of attendees and a

their representatives — including
State Assemblywoman Rodneyse
Bichotte, State Senator
Kevin Parker, City Councilman
Mathieu Eugene, State Assemblywoman
Diana Richardson, State
Senator Zellnor Myrie, and State
Assemblywoman Jamie Williams
— who awarded proclamations to
MetroPlus Health Plan or gave
speeches to the crowd.
Following the reception and
speeches from the podium, attendees
enjoyed activities and entertainment
provided by MetroPlus
which truly had something for
everybody with a masseuse, a
photo booth, pictures with Santa
Claus and an area dedicated to
arts and crafts.
MetroPlus Health Plan also
conducted a holiday toy drive,
where they distributed hundreds
of toys to needy families
in the surrounding community!
