Dr. Fell has been taking care of patients in Brooklyn for
over three decades, fi rst in Brighton Beach and then in her

Dr. Fell’s journey to becoming one of the leading comprehensive
ophthalmologists in Brooklyn has by no means
been straightforward. She attributes much of her determination
to her parents and in particular, her mother Sarah, who
was an amazing role model of strength and resolve and to
the support of her husband, Alan, over these many years.
After completing a BS in mathematics at CCNY, Dr
Fell taught math to gifted students at Hunter College High
School in Manhattan. She always wanted to pursue a medical
career but because of economic constraints didn’t follow
this path until she was encouraged by her husband. She
soon began taking courses at Hunter College in order to
fulfi ll the science requirements to apply to medical school.
She attended Stony Brook Medical School and was
then accepted to a residency in Ophthalmology at New York
University Medical Center in Manhattan.
Dr. Fell has been affi liated with NYU now for more than
thirty years, fi rst as a medical retina fellow and then as an
attending where she has volunteered to mentor residents
in performing cataract surgery at Bellevue Hospital. Along
the way, she brought up three children which are her pride
Dr Fell’s passions include teaching young doctors the
art of cataract surgery and going on international eye missions
to perform cataract surgery on indigent populations in
the Dominican Republic, Peru and Mexico.
In her private practice, Dr. Fell utilizes the latest techniques
to evaluate and treat a variety of eye diseases from
dry eyes to cataracts, diabetes, macular degeneration and
glaucoma. Her state-of-the-art practice has all the latest diagnostic
and treatment modalities.
In the operating room, Dr Fell utilizes all available modern
techniques to perform cataract surgery including femtolaser
and intraocular lenses to correct astigmatism and
presbyopia (the need for reading glasses).
The road has been fi lled with challenges and successes
but the path was always clear. Follow your dreams, forge
ahead and continue on the journey toward your goals!
