services; however, some
of the hotlines & service
numbers in classifieds
actually hurt the people who
rely on them by cheating
them of their hard-earned
dollars. "Most newspapers
print a disclaimer in their
classified ad section to warn
readers about numbers
that are a direct line to
trouble. Any number starting
with 900, 540, 595 or 871
charges a fee beyond a
local call. In some instances,
ads initially advertise calls
to a local number, but then
direct callers to a second
number starting with one
of the paid exchanges.
