An Elmhurst man has died
of his injuries days after
he crashed his motorcycle
into two parked cars in Woodside,
police said.
At around 10:08 p.m. on Nov. 12,
police responded to a 911 call of a
motor vehicle collision involving
a motorcycle on 66th Street near
Laurel Hill Boulevard. Upon their
arrival, law enforcement sources
said, officers found William Mc-
Manus, 56, lying on the roadway
with trauma to his body.
EMS responded to the scene and
rushed McManus to Elmhurst Hospital,
where he subsequently died of
injuries on Nov. 18.
An investigation by the NYPD
Highway District’s Collision Investigation
Squad found that McManus
was traveling southbound on 66th
Street on a 2014 Yahama Scooter
when he failed to properly navigate
the roadway.
He sideswiped a 2014 Honda
Accord and a 2009 Infi nity G37,
which were legally parked and
unoccupied along the east curb,
causing McManus to become separated
from the motorcycle and hit
the ground.
There were no other reported
injuries from the incident. The investigation
is ongoing.
