Cops are continuing to search
for two men who robbed a cab
driver at gunpoint in Ridgewood
last week.
According to police, the trouble
began at 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 15 when the
two suspects — described as black or
Hispanic males — entered the driver’s
cab at the corner of Gates Avenue and
Fresh Pond Road. They directed the
cabbie to take them to a location on
Hancock Street near Cypress Avenue.
Upon arriving at the location, authorities
said, one of the perpetrators
pulled out a black semi-automatic
handgun and racked the slide, while
the other pressed a knife against the
victim’s back.
Law enforcement sources noted
that the two bandits removed from the
driver $200 in cash, two smartphones
(a red iPhone 7+ and a Samsung Galaxy
tab 4) and a black iPad mini. The crooks
then exited the cab and were last seen
fl eeing eastbound on Hancock Street.
During an investigation, police
learned that the stolen iPhone and
iPad were sold at a store on Myrtle
Avenue in neighboring Bushwick.
The 104th Precinct Detective
Squad is conducting the investigation,
with Detective Mark Bublin
assigned to the case.
Anyone with information regarding
the bandits’ whereabouts is urged
to call Detective Bublin at 718-386-2723
or Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
All calls are kept confidential.
