Man critical
after taking
big punch in
Ridgewood

Cops are still looking for the
assailant who punched and
critically injured a 56-yearold
man on a Ridgewood street
during the holiday weekend.
Law enforcement sources said the
assault occurred at 1:30 a.m. on Sept.
3 in front of a building on Decatur
Street between Cypress and Wyckoff
avenues.
According to authorities, the
victim became involved in a verbal
exchange with the suspect, who was
described as an unidentifi ed male
wearing all black clothing. Seconds
later, the perpetrator punched the
victim, causing him to fall and strike
his head on the pavement.
Following the attack, police said,
the suspect fl ed the scene in an unknown
direction.
Offi cers from the 104th Precinct
and EMS units responded to the incident.
Paramedics rushed the victim
to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was
listed in critical condition.
No arrests have been made, and
the investigation is ongoing.
