We are having a graffiti paintover next Saturday, May 31; all participants will meet up at 9 a.m. at the 112th Precinct, located at the corner of Austin Street and Yellowstone Boulevard. We will be giving certificates for community service to thank the students for their help. We will also be providing refreshments for those who join our paintover.. Graffiti is the most common type of property vandalism, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. The police have indicated that their experience shows that if an area is continually repainted, eventually the area will remain clean. Our community is working together with the precinct on all of these plans. In addition, our police have a database of graffiti tags and are vigilant about responding to graffiti vandalism and making arrests. Essay contest The 112th Precinct Community Council is also sponsoring an essay contest.
