Michael Nacmias, an attorney for Eric Palatnik PC, gave a presentation to residents of a proposed new gym coming to Corona: Executive Fitness, located at 86-10 Roosevelt Ave. Nacmias sought the Community Board’s support for a special permit to allow a physical culture establishment. It will be housed on the second floor of the building and feature exercise machines, weights and aerobics classes. It will cover 7,000 square ft. of the 25,000 square ft., two-story building. Seven full-time employess will run gym operations, and independently contracted instructors will be hired to teach classes. “We feel a gym in this location -SEE BOARD 4 ON PG. 56- TIMES, THURSDAY, APRIL 17, 2014 • 8 Good Friday March Between Churches From Glendale To Ridgewood by Robert Pozarycki Local Catholics will commemorate Good Friday, the most solemn day on the Christian calendar, with a procession through Ridgewood and Glendale streets tomorrow, Friday, Apr. 18. Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, leader of the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, is scheduled to lead tomorrow’s march, which will get underway at 6:30 p.m. outside St. Pancras Church on 68th Street near Myrtle Avenue in Glendale. Good Friday marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and serves as a prelude to Easter Sunday, Apr. 20, which celebrates Christ’s resurrection from the dead. St. Pancras Church is one of eight Catholic parishes participating in the procession. The others are Ridgewood’s Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, St. Aloysius and St. Matthias Churches; Glendale’s Sacred Heart Church; Middle Village’s Our Lady of Hope and St. Margaret Churches; and Brooklyn’s St. Brigid Church. The procession is sponsored by the Associazione Cattolica Italiana Miraculous Medal di Ridgewood. Other Catholic organizations participating in the march include Societa Concordia Partanna, Maria Santissima del Balzo di Bisaquino, Santa Margherita Belice, Associazione La Lambada, Associazione Artistica La Zagara, Maria Delle Grazie di Montevago and the Associazione Culturale di New York. From the starting point, the faithful will march northbound on 68th Place before turning west onto Central Avenue. They will then turn northbound onto 65th Place, then west on 70th Avenue and back north on 65th Street into Ridgewood. After walking two blocks, the procession will move west onto Catalpa Avenue to 60th Lane. From there, the march will head north on 60th Lane, then move one block west on Putnam Avenue before turning back north on 60th Place. The procession will end at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, located at the corner of 60th Place and Bleecker Street. Officers from the 104th Precinct and members of the Glendale/104th Precinct Civilian Observation Patrol will escort participants and provide traffic and crowd control. Drivers planning to travel through Ridgewood and Glendale during the procession are advised to anticipate delays and use alternate routes.
