Station For Renewal Repairs by Anthony Giudice The MTA closed the Far Rockaway-bound platform at the Rockaway Boulevard station of the A train last Monday, Feb. 9—and it will remain shut through May. The closure is due to an ongoing $39 million capital project at five stations along the A line on Liberty Avenue in Ozone Park in order to upgrade the stations. Those stations are: 80th Street-Hudson Street, 88th Street-Boyd Avenue, Rockaway Boulevard, 104th Street-Oxford Avenue and 111th Street-Greenwood Avenue. The station renewal at Rockaway Boulevard will include the replacement of: mezzanine to platform stairs; mezzanine floors, doors and windows; and interior and exterior walls. The station will also be painted and canopies, windscreen panels and railings will be replaced. The work will also include the installation of new lighting, better platforms, enhanced safety features and upgraded communications systems. Queens-bound riders traveling to Rockaway Boulevard must take either a Far Rockaway-bound A train to Aqueduct-North Conduit Avenue or an Ozone Park-bound A train to 104th Street and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A train. For service from this station, take a Brooklyn-bound A train to 88th Street and transfer to an Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard or Far Rockaway-bound A train. Flushing-bound 7 trains will skip the 82nd Street, 90th Street, 103rd Street and 111th Street stations today, Thursday, Feb. 12, from 10:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. For service to these stations, take the 7 train to Junction Boulevard or Mets-Willets Point, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound 7 train. For service from these stations, take the 7 train to Junction Boulevard or 74th Street, then transfer to a Flushingbound 7 train. Some L Trains Run Short In Ridgewood The last stop for alternate Canarsie-bound L trains will be Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 12-13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Riders can transfer between Canarsie-bound L trains at Myrtle- Wyckoff Avenues to continue their trip. During this period, it was noted, L trains running between Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues and Canarsie- Rockaway Parkway will operate every 12 minutes. Riders are advised to plan their trips accordingly. N Trains Skip Stops In Astoria Weekdays Astoria-bound N trains will skip the 39th Avenue, 36th Avenue, Broadway and 30th Avenue stations on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 12-13, from 10:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this period, Q trains will not operate between 57th Street and Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard. For service to the skipped stations, take the N train to Astoria Boulevard, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound N train. For service from these stations, take the N train to Queensboro Plaza, then transfer to an Astoria-bound N train. Weekend Express For E & R In Qns. Manhattan-bound E trains will operate express service between 71st-Continental Avenues and Queens Plaza late nights this holiday weekend, from 11:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17. Additionally, Manhattan-bound R trains will also run express service in the same section at all times Saturday and Sunday. Furthermore, Jamaica Center-bound E trains and Jamaica-bound F trains will operate local service between Roosevelt Avenue and 71st-Continental Avenues from 12:01 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday. For service to the 67th Avenue, 63rd Drive, Woodhaven Boulevard, Grand Avenue, Elmhurst Avenue, 65th Street, Northern Boulevard, 46th Street, Steinway Street and 36th Street stations, take the E or R train to Roosevelt Avenue or Queens Plaza, then transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound E train, a Jamaica-bound F train or a Forest Hillsbound R train.
