Brick-thrower
arrested for
hitting a cop

A Brooklyn man has been
charged with assaulting a
police offi cer in Maspeth on
Tuesday aft ernoon who responded
to a dispute in which he was involved,
police said.
The incident occurred at around
1:05 p.m. on Jan. 23 in front of a home
on Maspeth Avenue between Melvina
Place and 59th Street.
According to law enforcement
sources, Edward Wysk, 51, of
Monitor Street in Greenpoint was
involved in an argument with a
second individual and a Department
of Environmental Protection
inspector at a construction site.
Offi cers from the 104th Precinct
responded to a 911 call about the
dispute. As the offi cers approached,
authorities said, Wysk allegedly
hurled a brick which subsequently
struck one of the cops in the head.
Law enforcement sources said the
injured officer suffered a laceration
and was rushed to Wyckoff Heights
Medical Center for treatment and tests.
Both combatants were taken into
custody; Wysk was charged with assault,
resisting arrest and obstruction
of governmental administration. The
case against the unidentifi ed individual
was sealed, police sources said.
The DEP inspector was neither
charged nor injured in the matter.
