Board 5 to
talk Rentar
Plaza project
Community Board 5 will hold a
public hearing this Wednesday
night, Jan. 12, in Middle Village
on renovations plans to Rentar Plaza.
As announced by District Manager
Gary Giordano, the session
takes place at the start of the regularly
scheduled Board 5 meeting at
7:30 p.m. on Jan. 12 in the cafeteria
of Christ the King High School,
located at 68-02 Metropolitan Ave.
The public hearing focuses on an
application with the Department of
Transportation submitted by Vertical
Industrial Park Associates to remove a
planting area in front of Rentar Plaza,
66-26 Metropolitan Ave., adjacent to the
now-closed Kmart department store.
If approved, the planting area
would be excavated and replaced
by a curb cut and a driveway on
Metropolitan Avenue.
The Board 5 meeting will also
feature presentations from an Elmhurst
Hospital representative on the
medical center’s new express care
facility, and by a representative of
Transitional Services for New York.
The meeting agenda also includes
the public forum; reviews
of liquor license applications and
demolition notices; reports from
Chairperson Vincent Arcuri and
District Manager Giordano; and
committee reports.
Call Board 5 at 718-366-1834 for
further information.
