Cops hunt
for killer
motorist
BY AIDAN GRAHAM
Police are investigating a
deadly hit-and-run in Crown
Heights on Sunday as a homicide
after determining
the driver intentionally ran
down his victim.
The motorist behind the
wheel of a grey sedan used
his driver’s side door as a
battering ram to strike 30-
year-old Crown Heights
resident Kassim Matthews,
opening the door into the
victim as he sped south
along Albany Avenue near
Park Place at 5:30 p.m., according
to police.
After crushing the victim,
the driver smashed
into several parked cars, before
hitting the gas and fleeing,
cops said.
Paramedics arrived on
the scene and rushed Matthews
— who lived two
blocks away from the scene
— to Interfaith Medical
Center, where doctors pronounced
him dead, according
to authorities.
No arrests have been
made, and the investigation
remains ongoing, according
to police.
