SummerStage is continuing its
free digital series SummerStage Anywhere
this week with one-of-a-kind
digital arts performances.
SummerStage, New York’s largest
free outdoor performing arts festival,
said on Tuesday that the series – live
and pre-recorded – will be specific to
genres that were “born in or deeply
represent New York (Hip-Hop, Latin,
Global, Indie Rock, Jazz and Contemporary
Dance).”
Shows will be presented on SummerStage
Instagram, SummerStage
YouTube, Facebook page and Twitch
channels, unless otherwise noted.
“(It’s) a family friendly, percussion
master class for all ages with
award-winning and internationally
acclaimed multi-instrumentalist
LaFrae Sci,” SummerStage said.
SummerStage said the artitsts will
be “in conversation on the way that
their home of the Bronx has always
supported and developed culture and
music, their mutual experiences performing
at SummerStage, how La
India has stayed focused and maintained
her career over the years, how
she has been staying connected to
her fans through recent months and
more.”
Culture Talk will be highlighted
on Friday, July 24, on Summer-
Stage Instagram, Facebook page and
Twitch, live at 6:00 pm EST with
brother-sister combo DJ Kool Herc
and Cindy Campbell.

Brooklyn’s Tropicalfete’s teaching
artist Vincentian-born Daria Primus
has been selected among six finalists in
NYC Beatz Coronavirus Song Contest.
Brooklyn Arts Council’s Folk Arts
program said in a statement that the
public was expected to meet the finalists
and cast their votes on social media
on Thursday in determining the winner,
who will receive $650.

Anyone who has ever experienced
Jamaica’s Reggae Sumfest fully comprehend
that the July festival at Catherine
Hall in Montego Bay has always offered
a full course serving of the island’s
home-grown music — in all forms.
Presenters of Jamaica’s indigenous
music since 1993, a claim by Summerfest
Productions of staging the “greatest
reggae show earth” has offered showstopping
performances highlighting
ska, rock-steady, lover’s rock and dancehall.
However, with limited travel and the
still looming threat posed by COVID-
19 Downsound Entertainment pledged
to deliver “A Taste of Reggae Sumfest”
during an entire week of free Facebook
showcases.
