 BY THE STAGG GROUP
The Stagg Group has been developing
 properties throughout the Bronx for
over 20 years. Opening this summer,
our property at 150 Van Cortland Ave.
was designed to include an exterior
garden space for people to enjoy as
they walk by or perhaps take a special
 photo in front of.
These green spaces are not only
important to Stagg, but most importantly
to the people of the community,
 namely Barbara Stronczer an active
 community member. To honor Stronczer’s
efforts to keep the Bronx community
beautiful, clean and safe, on Tuesday,
June 30, Stagg held a ceremony
and presented her with plaque in her
name that will be a permanent fi xture
 in the Van Cortland garden.
 “I appreciate this garden being
named in my honor. It is great to see
the Stagg Group adding greenery to
their projects. Since Mark Stagg was
the fi rst developer to build a residential
project on the newly rezoned Webster
Avenue, his taking the lead in softening
 the appearance of his buildings
is a step in the right direction. Most of
the older buildings in the area, both
the Art Deco’s and the pre-war buildings,
  were constructed with some type
of shrubs or planters. May this garden
be the start of many more green spaces
 being added to the neighborhood,”
  said Stronczer.

 A lifelong Bronx resident, Stronczer
 is passionate about keeping the
city clean from organizing park clean
ups to beautifi cation projects to helping
 people within the neighborhood.
She currently serves as the president
 of the Bedford Mosholu Community
Association and is also the Parks committee
 chairperson and Community
 Board 7 member.
 Among her other associations,
Stronczer is also a board member of
both the Bedford Park Multi Service
Center and the West Bronx Housing
and Resource Center. She is also a
member of the 52nd Precinct Community
 Council.
“One of the things she’s known for
as a force on the community board is
green in the city, green in the neighborhood,
and I think there is no better
way to honor that activism and commitment
to the community than a garden
with a plaque in her name,” said
 Mark Stagg, CEO and founder.
Stagg noted that he and Stronczer
share a similar passion for green
spaces and indicated that if he has the
 opportunity, he will incorporate green
 spaces into his building designs.
 Each Stagg property offers design
features that make living there a warm
and enjoyable experience – from game
rooms, lounges and gyms to beautiful
gardens — the buildings invite you in.
