Borough plagued by falling trees during weekend storm

These trees bite worse than
they bark!
Brooklyn sustained a massive
arboreal assault amid
Saturday’s high-winds, which
toppled trees from Windsor
Terrace to Marine Park, and
left a few crushed cars in their
wake.
“I was like, ‘wow,’” said
Windsor Terrace resident Tim
Wallace, who was returning to
his home on E. Second Street
between Greenwood Avenue
and Fort Hamilton Place when
he saw a 30-foot linden tree lying
across two parked cars.
The tree had snapped under
the weight of Saturday’s
50 mph wind gusts, which
sent the plant crashing into
a nearby Mazda 6, shattering
its roof and rear window. Another
car, a Toyota 4Runner,
suffered damage to its rear
tailgate, according to Wallace.
Wallace, who has lived in
the area for 48 years, said he
has not seen a such a massive
tree fall for quite some time.

and Avenue R in Marine Park
