NEW YORK
Nathan’s Hot Dog
Eating Contest
What has become a Fourth of July tradition
outside of the original Nathan’s Famous hot dog
stand in Coney Island, Brooklyn, the hot dog eating
contest celebrates the best competitive eaters in
the world. Reigning champion Joey Chestnut is the
gold standard in the event with 11 championship
belts, though Miki Sudo is making a name for
herself by winning the women’s contest for the
past five years straight. Chestnut also holds the
world record (which he has set and broken himself
many times in this event) for the most hot dogs and
buns eaten in 10 minutes, with 74.
