Best known for her association
with Prince, and findly referred to as
the “Queen of Percussion,” legendary
drummer Sheila E. will grace the stage
at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park on
June 23. Throughout her career she’s
collaborated with the likes of Phil
Collins, Cyndi Lauper, Beyonce, Ringo
Starr and George Clinton. She’ll be
joined by The Roots collaborator and
neo-soul R&B singer Musiq Soulchild,
as well as local Queens dancehall artist
Kranium. Doors open at 4:00 p.m., and
the free show begins at 5:00 p.m.
Young M.A. / Funk Flex
Dubbed “the quintessential New York MC” by the FADER, Young M.A.
will perform for her home city on June 28 at 7:00 p.m. in Brooklyn’s Betsy
Head Park. She first turned heads with M.A. the Mixtape and by 2016 she
earned massive fame with her triple-platinum hit song “OOOUUU” that
landed her on the Billboard charts and the Forbes 30 under 30 list. Her latest
hit is a remix of the song “Thotiana” by Blueface, and Young M.A. continues
to prove she can hang with the boys in the rap game. She will be joined by
New York hip-hop ambassador and Hot 97 DJ, Funk Flex.
