“IT IS DEVASTATING IF WE DO NOT GET A DEAL”
BY JEFF YAPALATER
Congressman Meeks
was the guest on the JFK
International Chamber of
Commerce sponsored webcast
on September 16. He represents
Congressional District
5, which includes JFK
Airport, so his thoughts
were of major interest to
the stakeholders.
He spoke about the duress
of many business and
individuals from the pandemic,
the current additional
funding deadlock
in the Senate and what it
would mean to the community,
how states and municipalities
are severely financially
impacted , the Port
Authority financial needs,
and his promise to come
back for a more detailed
interactive session in October.
Meeks said that the
House passed the Heroes
Act four months ago and
yet there is a deadlock in
Congress with the Senate
failing to provide a adequate
compromise. “In the
House we have plans for
small business, money to
keep employees, ways for
businesses to pay rent and
utilities in the Hero’s Act.”
Congressman Meeks is guest speaker at
JFK Chamber of Commerce webcast.
