Thinking of buying stocks
Airlines, aviation, lifting off?
The aviation industry has been
the hardest hit in the transportation
world. With many airlines passenger
traffic down 90% from a year
ago, their stocks have taken a beating
since March.
The airline passenger traffic
dropped like a rock, and so did the
stock values.
As for U.S. airlines, the airline
stock prices market have been up
and down since mid March. Their
price is still down considerably
from early 2020 prices when the
market was at an all time high.
Seems like the “market” can’t decide
on the V, W or U curve when it
comes to economic upturns.
There are those who say that
airline values will increase slowly
while others see a multi year low
level of gains.
But no one thinks the airlines
will rebound dramatically sending
stock prices through the roof anytime
soon.
So, the question is it time to buy
airline and aviation stocks or wait?
Do the hundreds of thousands
of aviation workers come together
and buy U.S. airline stocks to help
the industry thereby helping liquidity
of the company and helping secure
their own future or will many
decide that the future of the industry
for the next couple of years and
hold off investing?
Or should they continue or begin
to invest in other areas that show
growth?
Many investors were scared off
when Warren Buffet sold his mix
of airline stocks soon after the covid
market crash. So, this was not
a great source of comfort for the
airlines. However he has done this
before selling off all the stocks then
buying them again later.
However as we see a phased, incremental
improvement there are
many investors who have money to
invest while there are many young
people and beginner workers who
don’t have a lot to invest. So, during
this time of economic crisis, what is
a person to do?
One recent answer is to buy fractional
shares of stocks. That is buying
a piece or slice of a any stock.
Many brokers now offer this type
of investing. One can buy fractional
shares in many stocks thereby
spreading the money around and
staying in the game.
Buying into the stock market for
the future is a risk so plan accordingly
whatever you do.
Taking temps at JFK
Covid19 targeted
Temperature checking protocols
are being used and in pilot tests
around the JFK International Airport
by the Port Authority and by
other stakeholders to identify and
stop the spread of Covid 19.
Port recently conducted pilot
tests of temperature taking in New
Jersey Tech Center, Journal Square
and at JFK Airport at the main administration
building and in General
Aviation.
The technology of the temperature
checks varied from one building
to another. Some conduct tests
with hand held sensors such as terminalsT1,
T4 , and cargo handlers
Lufthansa, AGI, The Ark, Worldwide
Flight Services, as well as the
CDC, and others handled by CLPA.
The Port was piloting with large
tripods that held both a thermal
imager and video camera linked to
a computer record the passing by
individuals instantaneously. The
company administering the pilot
said, “The volunteer compliance
is unbelievable at 99%.” Almost all
agreed as a thermometer was held
gun-style to their head to quickly
read their temperatures.
All these temperature checks
airport wide are part of the overall
community actions to provide
safety for employees and travelers
at the airports.
The more extensive covid testing
is being conducted by Citimed and
a new pilot program by Terminal 4.
These are fee based and will be either
covered by the employee out of
pocket or their insurance carriers.
These temperature checks are
part of an overall health program
consisting of masks, social distancing,
clean hands, face shields,
prominent signage, touchless transactions
and regular disinfecting
to provide the utmost in care and
safety.
