JFK Rotary Runway Run
The JFK Rotary Club 2019 Runway
Run was shrouded in fog but did not cloud
the excitement that over 1700 runners felt
at this year’s race, April 14th. This year a
private jet appeared out of the fog and almost
everyone wanted a photo in front of
it as they made their way to the start line.
Many of the participants have run
the race before and looked forward to the
unique course which allows for runners
to use a generally active runway which is
closed for this event. Everyone loved to see
jets taking off nearby as they ran the race
and hoped to beat their time from last year
or win in their age division.
Port Authority General Manager
Charles Everett and Deputy GM JFK Tony
Vero along with volunteers from other airport
organizations and additional Port
employees were on hand to help with registration,
safety and distribution of water
during the event.
At the conclusion of the event many
went to the sponsor bleachers where
awards were given out to the winners as
onlookers munched on the bananas and
bagels provided to the runners post race.
Eventually the sun shined during the
event and smiles broke out among the energized
and tired participants who were
already talking about attending next year.
